Yep I mad the move back to Iowa in June and it is now August and just now posting something about it on here! sorry about that ... but pretty much didnt figure that anybody reads this anymore ... I dont know maybe people somewhere out there do?! not sure ... oh well here is the update!
back in Ankeny * back at Saylorville for worship!* lovin being able to hang with my old gang * workin pt at the ol shop * workin on a good tan * biking often * lookin for a ft job it is a slooooooow process * pray *

another cold saturday

Its Saturday and I am sitting in my office trying to get our new printer figured out but its not going so well! so I am watching a little college basketball instead of throwing the whole thing out the window because its so frustrating!

also I am so ready for the cold to be gone and the warm spring weather to come! I hope its comes soon because I am getting really tired of the cold and snow!

I hope to also start doing some more photo shoots as spring approaches ... so keep a watch out for that!

Traveling Home for the Holidays

Today I get to hop on an airplane and fly the snowy skies ... actually today the weather is not supposed to be an issue which I am very thankful for! I really do not want to be stranded in Detroit for any extended period of time! so yeah I fly out of Scranton this afternoon and land in Des Moines sometime this evening.

I am excited to be going back home to Iowa for the Holidays, Its been 7 months since I have been there and it will be good to see all of my friends and family!

I look forward to catching up with all of you ... so if you want to hang out while I am home then just give me a call or send and email.

Thanks to all of you who have supported and prayed for me through all of my transitions...

Also I just wanted to say how thankful I am for Jesus Christ our Savior for He is the real and only reason for Christmas and may you show His love and compassion to the lost and needed this Holiday season! for it is better to give!

ahhhh its Saturday

so its the first Saturday in December 2008 ... yep I am just chillin literally in the factorytown office ... its been fun reconnecting with friends from my days at Cville ... mainly cause I posted some great pics from back in the day on FB ...
I know I have not done a very good job of keeping this thing up to date! but I have not really done anything exciting lately! If we would get some snow or something I could go do a snow shoot or something but alas no snow here ... and well I am just not inspired right now anyway! I really would like to go to NYC soon and see all the sparkly lights ... so if any one wants to go with ... just give me a shout!

well only like 16 more days eh an I will be back in great ol' Iowa for the holidays! I am looking forward to that ... should be a good time!

wish I had some great news to report on ... but nothing much at this time! maybe something will happen sometime soon!?!?! who knows ... I guess I would have to go out on the town or something like that to make something crazy happen! :)

well peace out for now ... hope you all had a very Thankful and God honoring Thanksgiving and I look forward to the awesomeness of Christmas coming soon!

camp days

So this past week I spent at Scioto Hills Camp and Conference center in Ohio! I attended the NARBCamp conference! It was great to meet up with friends from Iowa and to make some new friends from other camps across the country!
Scioto Hills is beautiful in the fall ... actually I am sure it also is other times of the year, but especially in the fall it is quite beautiful ... ohhh of course it helped that we had amazing days of sunshine and great speaking and refreshment from God!

Thanks to the staff of Scioto Hills for making it a great conference! for opening up your avalanch of a zip line and for letting me jump off the Xscream pole ... so you ask what is an Xscream pole ... well just imagine climp the tallest telephone pole in your neighbor hood and then some how getting yourself to stand on top of it and then jump off in to mid air trying to grab a trapeze handle dangling about seven feet out in front of you! yeah I missed the swinging handle! but once I got on top of the pole it was a pretty sweet jump! :)

Hello to all my friends out there!

I just returned home from my fourth and final trip to Canada for the summer!
I am extremely glad that it is done and over with!
not to say that I did not have a good final trip ... because well it was once again an amazing week! God does some very cool things when you are up in the woods and most of what you have to do for the week is talk to Him!

It was another amazing trip! thanks in part to some amazingly emo people!

"what ignites your heart?"

So what does ignite your heart? it was the question that was posed to me via a card I received in the mail this morning!

It was a question I pondered as I kayaked through the morning mist and amazing sunrise on the Lake at Lackawanna State Park!

The air temp was about 56 degrees when I started my morning adventure ... the sky and lake all a blaze in the auburn hues of the morning sun! I was all alone ... well I mean just me, God, and nature singing its song! There were no geese moving about this morning as I have seen in my afternoon treks ... no fishermen as of yet ... although two sets in fishing boats joined me on the water by the time I left! ... it was a beautiful morning ... my only visitor was a turtle that surfaced just to say hello and I think maybe bask in the glory of the morning sun a little bit himself! it was a brief encounter ... one I wish I could of had my camera ready for! but alas he was gone into the depths of the seaweed infested lake! I did see what I think might of been a loon ... but it could of just been a wood duck ... but she was off in the far distance ... I enjoyed my time just thinking ... praying ... and being in awe ... I am soooo finite ... but yet I question so much!?! the book I started reading yesterday pops in to my mind ... its called "Surrendered" I wonder if I really am or if I am just playing some game?! ... Then I go back to the ...what ignites my heart? ... I try to think of it in terms of things for God and not the girl I wish it was! ... I paddle some more only to be at the end of the lake where the buoy markers are blocking the dam ... I sit ...

... I take some pictures of the fallen and misty buoy's
... then decide to travel on ... back to the the dock, the shore, the truck, back to reality, back to this day that is in front of me!
... I believe it is going to be an amazing day! ... at least the start of it was!

So this is just an example of how run raged I have been lately ...
I have been somewhat sick with some freaky cold/cough thingy! it comes and goes ... one day I feel seemingly fine .. the next horrible!
Plus I have all these responsibilities with my new job and some days I am not sure which way is up!
I have been at TLC this week during the main session times and they have been wonderful!!! but I have been coming back to the office to do work in the afternoons until the evening session starts!
Well today it was pouring down rain when I pulled into the work parking lot! ... now usually ... if I am not having to go to conferences or run errands in DC ... I am riding my bike to work!
but today since I went to BBC for TLC I drove! so I came back from TLC and its pouring down rain ... I grabbed my stuff ... and ran into the building as fast as I could ... now the other part that was making me hurry was that Ben was waiting for me because he had locked his keys in the office! :) ... so needles to say in my hast and absent mindedness I left my truck running for at least 4 hours in the parking lot today!!!
Nice huh ... anyone want to donate to the wasted fuel fund?! :)

I guess I maybe need to get some rest?!

Canada w/ my "old" Youth Group!

So I traveled up to Canada to help lead a Wilderness trip with my Best Friend Abe and his Youth Group from Saylorville ...
I used to be one of the youth leaders for the Saylorville Youth Group ... which I miss very much!

We had a great trip through the Algonquin Provincial Park in Northern Ontario Canada!

Canada trip #2 of the summer

So I leave for Canada on our countries birthday! seems kind of odd to leave the great USofA on the 4th of July but I guess if that is when a group wants to do a wilderness trip, and they really want me to be the leader of it, then I guess that is when you go! :)

The funny thing for me is this will be the third year in a row that I have not been in the US for the 4th of July! Which also means this will be the 3rd year in a row that I have not been home for my Birthday ... which happens to be July 8th for all of you out there that would like to send me presents, or cold hard cash, or just plain well wishes! :)

The process of being gone for over a week presents a new and different challenge now that I have a different job, and live in a different state! The days of frantically getting everything ready at the last minute because I have been stressing out, and working till all hours of the night getting the Gallery ready for me to be gone, and it to be on auto pilot while gone are over, and actually I am very thankful for that!! :) ... however the new area of trying to get everything ready for me to be gone, and getting everything ready to go up to Canada because that is part of my job now! and then try and figure out what gear I need to take with me and which box I actually packed it all in, and if it is unpacked or just where in the heck is all of it!?!? so well yes ... it is all a very fun, new and wild adventure for me! :)

I am excited!! ... because once I get everything loaded up, and I am headed on the road, and arrive at base camp in Kearney, Ontario, Canada ... I get to spend a week of adventure, challenge, laughter, crying, spiritual awaking, relaxation, clean air, relational bonding, God's creation and His creatures! and I get to do all of this in the woods of Algonquin, but even better with some of the best youth kids in the world! I love my "old" youth group kids from Saylorville !!!

I am super excited about the privilege, and great opportunity I have to spend yet another week with 10 of them, and to be able to in some small way impact there lives to live in such a way and lead others in such a way that honors God !! What an awesome responsibility and great privilege! If you think about it you can pray for us!! ...thank you! :)

So now that I have filled you in on my weekend and week to come ... I shall leave you now and will report back in a week or so with some pictures and tall tales of Moose and Black Bears, spiders and mosquito's, waterfalls and raging rapids, beautiful sunsets and misty sunrises! oh it is amazingly beautiful in Algonquin Provincial Park ... you should take an adventure there someday! and if your lucky I just might be your guide! :)

So a wise man builds his house on a rock! I get that ... a firm foundation stands the test's of time! yada yada

but here we are at understanding again?

through is the key word here I think ... but what is key about it?
also what do we need to understand? or who is it we need to understand? is this a one time thing? or just what?

but it is through understanding ... it must be a process ... a continual working toward understanding ... so do we ever get there?

and what is established anyway? once you are established ... if you even know what it is to be established or what it looks like when you arrive there ... do you quit seeking understanding?

or does that take you back to the wise man?

... does me understanding a web or a photo editing program mean that I am going to prosper? when do I gain full understanding? of the software or of the Bible or of life?!

What is prosperity anyway?! whats this look like?!

... or is the cherishing ... the time spent trying to understand?! ...cherishing the moment ... the process off it all ... the instruction ... the essence of working toward the understanding! is that really where the prosperity lies?!

dinner, dessert , ... painting ??

Ok so Friday night I got to go out to dinner with my two new friends! ... Kim and Katie ... we went to the shops at Montage, walked around and then had dinner at Kildare's Irish Pub ... It was pretty good restaurant but mostly just had a great time of conversation!
Desert was next on the list of things to do ... we did not feel Kildare's had quite what we wanted :) ... so we traveled to a few different locals ... only to end up at the Olive Garden! who would of thought! anyway - we all got three different ones and all shared ... wait I am not sure anyone took a bite of mine!?!? whats up with that! hummm ... so yea we pretty much closed that place down! good times ... thanks girls!

SATURDAY ...

I finally got all of the office server stuff out of the closet in my bedroom! YAY ...
so I got this wild hair to tear the whole closet apart (all the old wood shelving) and paint the whole thing and install a two tier white wire shelving unit into it ... so that is what I have been doing today! ... right now I am at the office working on a few things while the paint dries! ... fun stuff! I almost feel like I am on one of those home makeover shows or something ... Hopefully my closet will be totally done tonight and I will actually know where all of my clothes are! :)

Lunch meetings

So I had this "huge" lunch meeting today! I had no idea that those things could last for over 3 hours! ...what could you possibly talk about for that long?! ... did we talk in circles?!? :) ... actually the time flew by and by the end it was very productive!

The food was great ... had a really good wrap at the Kissam Cafe! a place that totally reminds me of my very own coffee shop back in Ankeny, Iowa! so you may find me hanging out at the kissam cafe from time to time!

It was a good day today ... but a better day is coming tomorrow ... we get our internet hooked up!!! yeah! Yeah!! YEAH !!! finally we can be connected to the world at work! :)

so long for now ... and nope no pictures of lunch food ... the cafe it self ... me, ben or mel, or even what the internet looks like!! sorry you will just have to use your imaginations!!!!

so I ride my bike to work almost everyday anymore ... it is great and I love it! it saves so much on gas! then I can save that for my non-date weekends! :)

anyway it has been raining here a lot lately not deluging like in Iowa to the point of flooding but enough to make it annoying! so I have the eggbeater clip less pedals right?!?! just say yes we know ... oh maybe i will post a picture so you do know ...

I guess that is a plug for the company that makes them! :)

anyway ... I was riding to go home for lunch yesterday and i jumped off of a curb and my foot slipped off of the eggbeater pedal because I had flip flops on and well yes they don't clip into the pedals very well or not at all! :) and when all that happened on wet pavement well yes you guessed it ... I skinned up my beautiful "hand model quality" right knee and my rugged right elbow ... Mom its ok I put that one stuff on it you are always telling me to put on it!!! it is healing quite nicely now! but sorry you don't get to see the gruesome pictures! haha ... there aren't any and it really is not that bad!

Ok so at about 1 am on Sunday morning I was sitting in a parking lot high atop a hill overlooking the Scranton Valley enjoying the night lights & the company of my new friend KIM!
On this hill top I was introduced 2 a North Eastern Pennsylvania delicacy ... either that or just a fav of Kim's ...

Here is the outcome of our dinning experience!

Yes you got it add some very yummy Nestle chocolate chips!

Ricketts Glen State Park

Since I have a new friend here in Clarks Summit area!
We decided to goto this really sweet state park called Ricketts Glen
the park is amazing! My friend kept leaving her sandals behind ...

RG has so many waterfalls that you cant even really count them all ... but I am sure somebody has ... we had a blast jumping around ... going off trail ...

taking a million pictures until our batteries ran out ... and even then tried to take more! ... got soaked from head to toe ... not because we got into the waterfalls at first but because God decided to have the whole sky be a waterfall and we got dumped on with some pretty hard core rain!
Good company ... good conversation ... a few funny moments ... and some pretty alright snap shots! I will give you a couple here and then most all of them will be on the photo side!

Graduation Parties ruled the day this Saturday!
I attended 3 High School graduation parties!
It was a good time ... I traveled around to them with my awesome friend Abe and his family it was a good time of eating everything in site and having great conversation with new and old friends! I am going to miss hanging with my old youth group!! These kids are amazing and I loved being one of there leaders! but hey we have one more last hurray this July as we take on the Algonquin Wilderness! I am looking forward to that already!!
Hor-hay I am sorry that we did not get to spend as much one on one time this year as I would of liked to of! but you will be awesome at Drake! Congrats on all of your honors this year!

Summer will start in full swing this Memorial day weekend ... I hope it does not rain so we can cruise the Lake on Sunday and Monday!

I am currently just hanging out watching a movie an mess'in on the computer at my old friend and new bosses house Ben and Jenni Wilhite's house! So yes the rumors that may be circulating around are true! I am moving to Pennsylvania and working for Pilgrimage Wilderness Ministries and Pilgrimage Educational Resources!
I start in June and will be packing all of my belongings into a Uhaul truck and making the long trek to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and the city made famous by the Office! yes I will be in the Scranton area! more accurately Clarks Summit / Factoyrville. And yes I have been by the fictional plant and opening credit buildings!

I also just came back from a WILD up in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario Canada!
It was great to be back in the woods again .. and to be back in the area that I spent my whole summer last year!
It kinda felt like home! but it is nice to be back in civilization again!
I had an Awesome group to go into the woods with this year! I would post a picture but I am not on my computer right now so I can upload them so it will have to wait till later to post some of those! however they are on the photo section of this web site! so go check them out there! and enjoy!

Hello to all my friends, fans, and well yes family!! That includes you Chris!
well I have not been on here in quite sometime! sorry about that! you would of thought with all of the "free time" I have had lately I would have been on here every day posting about something! but alas I have not and well was by happen stance that I even ended up on here tonight!
Nothing real big and exciting to report to you all yet!
however God has been good! He has provided for me nicely since I have been home!
It has also been neat to see Him guide me through the process of my next steps! This process and decision is a huge step of Faith for me! but is reassuring that He is there with me! Thanks to all of you who have prayed and are praying!

oh and for those who are curious and appreciate my photography! Nikon is coming out with a new camera the Nikon D3 ... if any of you would like to donate monies to help me to be able to upgrade my 6 year old equipment to this new piece of beautiful technology I would greatly appreciate it! I will even take your picture for your generosity! :)

Yes I have made it home ... and have been a little delayed in writing to you all! Sorry about that I guess I have been busy! hummm ... anyway I guess most of you who read this already know I am back in Iowa because I have seen you or have hung out with you already!
To all of you that don't live around here in farm country! well I am doing good and adjusting to being back in familiar territory! the biggest weird thing is not having to go to work at the gallery! in case you did not know we sold the gallery! so I do not have to go in and take care of business there anymore! although I do have some follow up stuff with the transition of the new owners!

Well today I am going to the lake "lake panorama" with friends ... so that will be fun and remind me of my sweet ol time in Canada! except in a motorized boat! :)

ohhh ... that reminds me I do have a sweet kayak now and have gone out in it a couple of times now! Thanks Ben!!! I love it!!!

BBC & Clarks Summit PA

It is Tuesday and I am having a great time here in Pennsylvania!
I have been catching up with friends from back home in Iowa and also some of my new found friends from here at BBC that I meet up in Canada!
Also I have been hanging out with Ben Wilhite and family -- Thanks for letting me stay with you! Its been great!
Today I am going to the World Headquarters of Pilgrimage -- should be exciting!
also today I have a lunch meeting with Mel Walker of Vision for Youth!
well I am still trying to get to a point where I can ad more pictures to the web site!

Stowe / Montpelier Vermont & Springfield Massachusetts

So on Saturday I traveled down from Burlington Vermont to a very cool little Vermont town called Stowe! It is known for it's Bed and Breakfast resorts and also the Van Trapp Family Lodge is here ... yes the family that was made famous for the Sound of Music! There family has a "Lodge" Resort up on the mountain over looking Stowe! It is as they say just a little bit of Austria in Vermont! and it is incredibly beautiful! unfortunately it was overcast and rainy while I was there visiting! so I traveled around the area checking out all of the sights! I also took a self guided tour of the Van Trapp Family Lodge ... here is a picture

... I guess I just acted like I was a guest there!

After hanging out in Stowe I traveled down the road to Montpelier Vermont! This is the State Capitol of Vermont and again is a very neat little town!

The gold dome of the capitol building is very reminiscent of the Iowa capitol building! but more in a New England kind of way! I also had lunch here in Montpelier at a cool little Wrap sandwich joint called Uncle Joes or something like that! It was incredible! best wrap I have had!

After that I traveled on down the road to Springfield Massachusetts! ... Did you know this is where the Basketball Hall of Fame is? well it is true! I have pictures! :)

So I just missed getting in as closing time was 5 ... so I decided to stay the night here in Springfield and get up in the morning and go to the Hall for some Hoops lore! plus the Adidas store is having a big sale! Then after I cruise through there I will be heading on down the rest of the way to Scranton / Clarks Summit!

Friday in Ottawa!

Ok so on Friday I traveled from Huntsville Ontario down the very picturest Hwy 60
made a stop at the Algonquin Loggers Museum! It was pretty interesting!

Then it was on down to Ottawa which is Canada's capitol city!
Let me just tell you that Ottawa is a very cool town! I wish it had not been raining! and I wish I would have had a friend there with me to enjoy all of the sights and sounds of the city! But I made due with all of it and very much enjoyed myself! the Parliament buildings were very cool! and I loved all of the old architecture!

I also hung out in a really nice mall in the downtown district ... I forget what it was called but it was way sweet!
But here are a couple that I caught walking down the streets of Ottawa! :)

After hanging out in Ottawa I traveled to Montreal ... just pretty much passed through here and then headed on down to Burlington Vermont! Since it is the start of University all of the hotels were booked ... so I just camped out in my truck Friday night! I can say that I got very much sleep last night! :)

Slalom Skiing on Lake of the Bays!

So one of my dreams came true this past Tuesday! I got to ski behind and Awesome ski boat on one of the finest lakes in Ontario!

So it wasn't the best water conditions one could hope for ... but we did find a nice little cove to cut up some pristine Ontario water! The best part was the Malibu 23XTi ski/wake board boat that I got to ride and be pulled by!
This is one Amazing boat!! If I had the cash there would be one of these sitting in my boat dock at home! :) But a huge thank you to Rick and Cathy and Cathy for allowing me to go out on the water with you guys!

It made my stay up here in the near North even that much more enjoyable!
Besides being on an Ontario lake to ski which was great! The lake and the Cottages on the lake are beautiful! here is a peak at one...

Last Monday @ the Bean

Hello to all my friends -- American and Canadian! :)
Well it is surprising to me how fast this summer really went!
I can not believe that this is my last week to spend up here in Ontario!
It has been a blast! I have learned some good things about my self! and even though I still do not know what my future holds 100% I do have some good ideas and direction to consider!
So this last week we had some groups in the park ... one of them being the BBC college group! It was awesome to get to know some of these guys and girls! I love making new friends and being able to have a small impact into their lives! Also was great to reconnect with Dwight Peterson! Here is a picture of that Awesome group!

To all of you BBCers I will see you in a week or so! and I am looking forward to it!

To all of my friends at home ... I am probably going to be home sometime around Labor day! but don't hold me to any exact dates! i am really looking forward to getting home and reconnecting with everyone!

My next few days here will be nice and relaxing ... with finishing up packing up the box trailer and my camper! fixing a few of the boats so they are ready for the Sept. WILD and then buttoning up everything!
I am potentially planning on traveling to PA leaving Thursday via Ottawa and Montreal! then down through Vermont -- visiting a few places on the way to Clarks Summit, PA!

I will try to update this blog sometime before I do leave!

Winding Down!

So today is Wednesday the middle of the week that is winding down to the end of my summer! CRAZY! however I need to go back and catch up with last week eh!

So a week ago I spent a couple of days mountain biking at the Minnising Mountain bike trial in the Algonquin park! It was nice to get out and enjoy the park in a different way! The trail was great! but much more rockier than I am used to at home! you had to dodge a lot of boulders and many many tree roots!! Here is a picture of the typical trail!

So on my way home I was scanning the countryside of millions of trees! always on the look out for wildlife! and I spotted a Moose eh ... pulled over got out of the truck and went into the woods to track her down! well here is just one of the end product of that photo shoot!

Hope you enjoyed that one! :) I know I enjoyed the experience!

Here is a picture of me hanging out in an area known as Whiskey Rapids! a little day hiking trail in the Algonquin park that I went on I think it was last Wed.

So that was some of the highlights of last week for me!

This last Friday my good friend Josh left with his group from MI in the morning and then his brother and another good friend as well, Ohh and also my "boss" -- Ben and his son Caden came up for a few days! It was great to see all of them! Ben and I got to spend a few quality days together just catching up and talking shop! which was great! Also got to go to Church here in Huntsville which was great!! Then it was back to work! WE ahve a little over 60 people in the park this week ... One of the groups is a group of 22 that came up from BBC - Clarks Summit PA - that are here on there 3 credit Wilderness trip! It has been great to meet all of these guys and girls and make some good connections at BBC! plus I got to spend time with Dwight Peterson again for a few days! I love that guy! Also up and in the woods for the week are my new favorite newlyweds! Tim & Stacy! it was really good to reconnect with Tim and meet his new wife! They are Awesome! Thanks for the grapes! :)

So I think that brings you up to speed on the events and good times at least for the most part here in the wild wonderlands of the Algonquin and the near north of Ontario Canada! :) I am loving it here but, but yes it is true ... I only have a week or so left of FUN & Games up here! then it is over to PA to visit BBC for a few days and then the long trek home to Iowa ... with a few pit stops along the way! :) looking forward to it Josh & Gwen and Jake & Megan! I hope you leave the light on for me! :)

Ok well I need to work on a few other things here at the Bean my home away from home!!

It's Monday!!! YEAH!!

So yes it is Monday! up here in Canada it is the last day of the Civic Holiday Long weekend! so things are just now slowing down from a busy and crazy week of Canadians partying all weekend! it will be nice to have my campground a little bit back to normal! however the interesting people watching will end!! that is always entertaining! :)
Last week was a really long and kinda hard week for me ... both work wise and emotionally! It just seemed nothing really flowed or went the way it was supposed to go! but that is sometimes what happens up here and you have to roll with it and adapt!! however this is now a new week and I am very excited for it! Today (Monday) has gone really well as I put two groups in at Rain Lake today and now I am here in Huntsville hanging out online at the Bean Coffee shop! which is again a nice refugee for me! :)
Also I am thankful for friends and especially the ones that have taken the time to communicate with me online in chat and on the phone! All of those things were huge to me today!! so Thank You!!

On Tuesday I plan on going to a really sweet Mountain Bike park in Algonquin and ride for a while! it should be a sweet ol' time!

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but I have been taking advantage of the nice beach front area at the base camp and doing a lot of exercise swimming in the himbury lake! So that has been great and is super good exercise as well!

the rest of the week should be pretty easy going until Thursday when I have a couple of groups coming out of the park and get to play chef and cook them steak dinner! :) fun times!

ok well I need to get moving for the day! much to do and see! oh and the weather is perfect today! nice easy breeze in the air a little overcast but somewhat sunny and a cool 83 degrees! sorry to all you suffering in the Iowa humidity!! we dont really have that here in Ontario! :)

Busy but Good!

Hi to every one!
I have been super busy lately ... we are into the busy season of outfitting and everything! and things have been a bit crazy! plus I have had some unexpected things happen ... like the flat tire on the Durango on Monday while running a group from the lake! it was about a 4 hour ordeal that should have never been that long! but it all worked out! :) thank God!
I will probably only be in town today (Tue) so I may not update again for awhile ... and sorry it has been awhile to getting this one up!

Today is also a sad day for me! I guess I have been feeling homesick and missing certain people in my life! you know who you are! :) but I now know I have to move on and push through it! I will be fine! just a phaze! :)

ok I need to run for now! closing time is soon! and I have a few other things to do in Huntsville!!

Lake Ann - travel - & back at base camp

Hello all ...
I have been busy lately and just have not had time to get on here to update!
Last week I was up in Michigan at Lake Ann Camp!
my home church youth group kids were up and it was awesome to see them and and hang out with Justin and Terase! Lake Ann is an awesome camp with a lot of positive things going for them! it was good to just experience it and talk with the director and several others around the camp!
I had a quick and easy drive home on Thursday and then had groups come out on Friday and then a new batch of groups this past Saturday and put them in the park on Sunday! it was a full and busy weekend! but was also very good!

I was able to spend time with Dennis Wilhite this week which was very cool and very challenging! He is great at asking the tough questions and making you think about what it is you are pursuing in life!

ok well it is Monday and I am at the Bean Coffee house enjoying a cup of Joe!
I will try and give you another update soon!

CrAzY Thunderstorms!

Ok ... the last few days have produced some major crazy Thunderstorms! late Sunday night early Monday morning we had the first one ... I had groups in the campground and needless to say they got a little wet! a couple of them had to move there tents to higher ground! they were laying in 4 to 5 inches of water! they other thing that happened is the big gray tent that we use got blown up into a tree .. the good thing is that it didnt get hurt and we were able to set it back up fine!

Now Tuesday afternoon I was hanging out at the campground and actually thinking about going for a paddle! then the thunder and I mean thunder started to boom! it was the loudest I think I have ever heard! then the lighting! and then the rain and then the Hail and then the WIND! needless to say it was one the loudest worst Thunderstorms I have experienced in a very long time! and especially in a camper trailer!

So this storm pretty much took out - mangled - our big gray tent!

The Granite Ridge Campground sustained some major tree down damage! I counted at least 15 trees down out in the open! several roads had trees down over them and I helped them get the trees cut to allow cars to pass!
The clean up will be a a long process once again!

Well thankfully no body got hurt and that no major damage was incurred! much to be thankful for! I just hope they get the Hydro restored eh! .. oh whoops that is the Canadian in me coming out! I meant power restored!

Drue's Canadian Birthday!

So it is Saturday and the coolest date of the year! July 7 2007 or 07/07/07
it is also the day before my Birthday July 8! and once again I am in another country for it!
Last year I had the awesome opportunity to be in Berlin, Germany and Paris, France for my Birthday! So now this year I will be spending it in Kearney Ontario Canada! How fun for me! Only as I was just reminded recently I will not have a bunch of Youth kids with me wishing me well and coloring pictures for me! :) oh well!!!

So I am at the "Bean" right now and am about to head back to base camp to meet my next group coming in for the weekend! I sent a group into the woods this morning around 10am or so! have this next group coming to base camp tonight and then 2 more groups coming in on Sunday! all told around 50 people for the weekend going in to the Algonquin Park!

Well it is about that time so I will be heading off to "work" for the rest of the weekend and Monday ... I will hopefully be online again on Tuesday! so please say HI in an email or otherwise! Thanks Hannah for your email! I would LOVE to hear from the rest of you out there! :)

Altoona Church Wilderness trip 2007

So I had the privilege of going out on the first few days of the Altoona Baptist Church's Father and Son wilderness trip this past week! we left on Sunday July 1st.
This was great for me and I loved hanging out with the guys for a few days! I stayed with them thru Tuesday morning when they took off! ... you can check out pictures from there trip in the Flickr photo section of this blog!

There is a great story for me that came out of this trip but I will have to save that for another day! :)

enjoy and I have a very busy week this week! but I am looking forward to reconnecting with some new great friends, Jake and Megan Manne who are going to be here this weekend with there Youth Group! :)

ok so I was at my favorite hang out the Bean last Friday June 28th.
Kathy the owner got a huge 5 gallon bucket of Gerber daisy's from a customer! and she was so excited about it, it was fun!
But the cool thing is when I left for the day she gave me a mason jar with about six or so of them in it! which was way cool! She said that I could put them in my office! Hummmm so here they are in my office! or should I say the table in my trailer! I guess she doesn't realize that her coffee shop is my office! :)

I am here again today at "the Bean" my new favorite coffee house hang out!

It is Tuesday and is one of my off days ... I had to run into Huntsville today to square up with the ford dealership for the blue truck that I am supposed to be using for hauling canoes around - instead of my durango! anyway I also found a coin laundry shop today and did my laundry ... its been awhile since having to do my laundry in a laundromat ... anyway I survived and now I have more clean clothes! yeah for me!
I have just finished up catching up on all of my email correspondence so that is good! and thought I would post a short update to you all!
I would love feed back as it gets a little lonely here from time to time with not a lot to do and being by myself! so I would love to hear from all of you!

Hello to all my friends! Well my first full week is almost over and it has been rather enjoyable up here in North Country! I went for a paddle today up and down the Magatawan river which was very nice! I got to see a beaver, a deer and several loons! and the scenery was pristine!! right now I am at my local Huntsville hang out ... "The Bean" coffee shop! its the only place that I have found to have wireless at this point! but there is still a lot of exploring yet to do!

So I have to pick up a group of 21 from Faith Baptist Church of Creston Ia today so there will be some familiar faces!

Canadian Adventure part 1

So I just finished my first weekend running the base camp for Pilgrimage up in the Algonquin of northern Ontario Canada!
This first weekend I had Ben & Kadeen Whilhite (Pilgrimage owner) and Tim Morse here with me to get everything set up and going! Between the 3 of us we put 60 people on the water Sunday morning! Most will be in the woods for a week and then I will go pick them up at the access point and bring them back to camp on firday!
So far it has been pretty fun! Today is monday June 18 and I am hanging out in a coffee shop (imagine that) were they have wireless! so I can send you my updates!
This morning we had some thunderstorms so that has been kinda fun and interesting morning!

Well that is my up date for now! I will try and write more later and as interesting things out here in the wild happen! :)

Hello every one!
I just wanted to throw up a quick update!! This past week I spent a awesome week in the Canadian wilderness with some of my new best friends! :)
We had a great time of learning about God and ourselves through James and jumping of clifs in to the lake and seeing a Bull Moose and all the other great thinks about the wilderness!

Faith Track & Field 2007

This is just a quick up date on the Faith Track & Field season

Jordan Sauser is having an outstanding season so far he has won the 400 IH at Central Invitational, Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake, and the Dick Young Classic at Grinnell
Hopefully Jordan will compete at the Drake Relays this coming weekend!
the team has been progressing really well and we hope to compete well at Simpson College this weekend and advance everybody to the NCCAA Nationals May 5-7.

Pilgrimage 2006 ... Youth Wilderness Trip

On August 4th 12 teens and 2 leaders (Abe and I) left for the Algonquin of Ontario Canada! this is a very long trip but what an exciting and wonderful trip to experince Gods creation and learn His truths in an awesome setting! We put our canoes in the first lake on Sunday morning, and then paddled out on Friday afternoon August 11th.
and then traveled back to Iowa ... the good part about the road trip is that I was able to finish the book "Blue Like Jazz" ... a very good book!
We were split into two groups ... Here are my team members! and let me tell you these young adults are incredible! Josh Boersma, Issac Pilcher, Hor-Hay Schawb, Logan Whoel, Leah Hardie, and Mandee Gonzalez! God was good on this trip and taught us all some important life lessons!

Just got back from a Missions Trip to Berlin Germany ... first to minister along side Crossway Church and International Church in Berlin and to of course see and experience the World Cup of Football (soccer) ... The trip was Amazing! God worked in indescrible ways! He is so good! I have been lacking in my posting to this blog site!
so I thought I would drop in and say Hi ... not that anyone reads this thing anyway!
here is a picture from about 3 weeks ago ... I had the track guys out to the lake house after we got back from the National Track meet ... which by the way Jordan took first in the 400 hurdles for the second year in a row!

Faith Track @ Cornell Relays

Faith entered its first 4 x 100 realy at this meet the team was Josh Sanders, Noah kephart, Chris Lightfoot, and Jordan Sauser. we had some success finishing third place.
Jordan had a big meet in the fact that he ran in five (5) races. Jordan anchored the 4x100 team. Finished 2nd in the prelims, and finals of the 110 high hurdles, finished 2nd in the 400 hurdles, and finished fourth in the open 200.

Josh Sanders finished 3rd in the 110 high hurdles and 5th in the 400 hurdles. and was lead off leg in the 4 x 100.

Noah Kephart and Chris Lightfoot had respectable races in the 200 and 400. Both guys set PR's in the 400. Good Job guys!!

Small Group Night

Colorado Ski Trip 2006

Well this year I decided to take my yearly Colorado ski trip with my Sister and her friends and invited my girlfriend Victoria to come along!

We left Thursday Feb. 9th on the Amtrak train out of Creston, IA. We arrived at Winter Park Colorado on Friday morning around 11am. We made it to the slopes about 1pm on Friday, and enjoyed a great day on the mountain. Friday night we hit the huge hot tub at the hotel and then went out to dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Saturday we put in a full day of skiing on the beautiful slopes of Winter Park Ski resort. We had an eventful afternoon ... Vic even got to ride a snowmobile! You'll have to ask her about that one! :)

Saturday night was uneventful as we were all exhausted and just ordered pizza in for dinner! We all crashed pretty early Saturday night!
Sunday we awoke and headed out to a gorgeous day ... The temp was wonderful in the upper 30's and no wind ... it was a great day on the mountain ...
we skied to about 1pm and then headed back to the hotel to clean up and get our stuff ready to go back to the train station and head back to home sweet home Iowa!

The Mountains were wonerful and all should experience them at some point in there life! They are one of God's most magnificent creations!
The Amtrak ride was fun and had some interesting moments ... I wouldn't do it every time by any means but it should be done at least once in your ski trips to Colorado life time! just for the experince of it!

Well Thursday I leave Ankeny via Amtrak train to Winter Park Colorado!
I cant wait ... it is my yearly trek to the great mountains of Colorado for an extended weekend of skiing, and hot tubing! cant beat it!
So right now I am busy packing and getting everything ready to go! thats the not so fun part .. but has to be done ...
As soon as I can I will post pictures from what possiably could be the trip of the year ... of course the year is still young, and you should see my calender! :)

My Cousin Ryan Sauser (#1) plays football for Williamsburg High School and they played in the Iowa class 3 A State Football Tournament this Monday 11/14/05.

They played a really exciting game but came up short on the score losing 34-27. Ryan had a good game playing both Offense and Defense for most of the game .... So here a couple of pictures ... the rest you can check out on the Flickr photo page!! enjoy ...

Operation Faith in Action - Hurricane Katrina Relief Trip

I just wanted to make a quick report from my trip to Mississippi. We arrived back home (Ankeny, IA) at about 12 midnight Friday Sep. 16th after spending 8 days down in Ocean Springs, MS on the Gulf of Mexico.
Grace Independent Baptist Church and Academy, Ocean Springs, was our base camp for the week.

We worked in there gym/ "warehouse shopping center" sometimes a lot through the week and mostly when they needed an extra hand. The picture below is just a portion of the gym.

The other time was spent handing out supplies, cutting down trees, removing appliances from homes, cutting out drywall and insulation and in some cases gutting the whole house.

At right is just a typical scene on some of the streets near the gulf.

It was quite and experience seeing first hand the devistation of the area. It is late and have been traveling for almost 18 hours in a van so I am going to keep this one short. I will add more content and pictures later!

Hurricane Katrina "Operation Faith in Action"

Well I sit here with much to say and very little time to say it in. The last 24 hours have been somewhat of a whirl wind. I was in a advisory board meeting Tuesday and in that meeting an opportunity was presented to go and help with clean up and relief efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi. The initial idea of it peaked my interest but I figured there would be no way I could make it work.
Then at least 2 other individuals I came in contact that night and then the next morning suggested that I should seriously consider going. So I got back in contact with Brian Trainer and he gave me the details of the trip. You know it is so cool to see how the Lord opens doors of oppurtunity for service, and then makes our schedules work to make it happen ... It is only of the Lord that I am able to go on this trip. I made the decsion to go at about 3:30pm on Wednesday, and we leave at 2:30pm on Thursday the 8th. We will be gone for about 10 days.

I think God wants me on this trip to teach me, and grow me and help me understand just how much we have been given in this life! I believe it will be an incredible adventure.

Adventure becasue in some sense we dont know axactly what we will be doing once there. We have been told mostly demolition and clearing of trees and debri. a lot of hard manual labor.

We will be working with and orginazation called Operation Renewed Hope, that is directly involved in cordinating such relief efforts. Follow this link to there web site Operation Renewed Hope.org

I am traveling down with a team " Operation Faith in Action" that consits of Brian Trainer, Vice President of Faith Baptist Bible College, Ankeny, IA. who is the guy that put this all in motion. 10 Faith Baptist Bible College male students, and 5 local area church pastors. including my Church, Saylorville's Pastor Kevin Thomas. I believe there will be updates on the Faith website as well.

I am excited to see how God is going to work in this group. I am also excited to see how He is going to use us to minister to the Churches and People in the two towns we are going too.
The first town is Slidell, LA and the second will be Golfport, MS.

I also was asked to bring my camera. There are a few local media outlets, and individual oraganizations that would like coverage, plus to document our time and efforts. so I will be doing my best to do the work called there to do, and to also serve as photographer!

I think the last thing I will add is to PRAY! Pray for everthing you can think of to pray for. Also thank you to those that are sacrificing for me, so that I can go be a part of this ministry for the Kingdom!

sports night

Well tonight was a night of sports action, and it was actually a good night ... I first watched my cousin Jordan play soccer for Faith. They won there game 3-0 which I think might be there first win of the year. So great job Eagles!

After that I went and help my Mom do a couple of things ... Hey Mom if your reading this, glad to help anytime ...

I then travled to the sweet new athletic complex at Grandview Park Baptist School in Des Moines!
Watched a couple of my youth group guys play Eighth and JV Football!
They did awesome ... Great job Bret Funk in the Eighth grade game ... I think they won 64 -0!

Nathan Boresma (his in my small group!) and Hor-hay along with Robbie Urich played in the JV game. They all played really well tongiht as well! They won there first ever game 25-0!
Great Job Guys!

and now I am home ... jsut doing a few work related items and adding this note to my blog!

24hr. Mt. Bike Race Review

Meet Team Crash!

Adam Welch, Drue Wolfe, Abe Miller, Lucas Bair ...

Well the pain and agony is over for this year! I am not sure why I chose to do this again to my body this year .... it takes about 48 hours to recover from a 24 hr. Mt. Bike race... but I guess it was for the fun and fellowship of hanging with these guys and there families!

Well we had really good weather this year for the race. No Rain!! so that made the course really fast! sometimes to fast for me ... which made it easy for me to well wreck on the down hills ... I only had a couple of really good ones ... so that isnt to bad.

The most challenging part of the race for me is when about a quarter of the way in on my third lap my biking shoe decided to explode on me. so as to not let my teamates down on this lap I kept going! So I finished that lap in my stocking foot. here's a picture of my shoe! donations for a new pair of shoes will be accepted! :)

Well this year we didnt have anyone get sick so we were able to stay through the whole night and race through the morning ... well I guess I have to tell the truth here ... the other 3 guys raced through the morning ... I only went 4 laps which took me into the early morning hours of 12:30am ... Lucas did the most with 7 laps and Abe and Adam did 6 each. I just couldnt get my body to physically do it Sunday morning! I was exhusted and cramping pretty good!

Well we did do better this year than last ... I think we finished 8th out 16 Four Man Teams!

I am still undecided about next years race .... at this point I would say "no way jose" .... but you never know once next summer gets here!

Thanks to all of those that came out and supported us ... especially Abe's Mom and Dad who came down from Wisconsin!

24hr Mt. Bike Race

Well the 24 hour Mt. Bike race starts tomarrow at 12 noon. We will be heading up to Boone about 8:30ish to drive the hour it takes to get there, and then set up camp and get checked in and all that pre-game stuff! :)
I am looking forward to it this year from the stand point of doing much better than we did last year! I have actually rode the course a few times before the race this year ... last year the first time I rode it was when I did my first lap! so this year I should at least know the course a bit better! Plus we have trained more! However I am not saying that I am in shape at all ...

I am on a four man "relay" team again this year ... the same team as last year ... so we are seasoned veterans! :) The team "Team Crash" consits of Abe Miller, Adam Welch, Lucas Bair, and myself.

Well I plan on taking a few pictures and posting as soon as we win the darn thing! ha ... like that will happen ... anyway ... If you think of it, pray for us ... we will need it!

New Small Group

I am a youth leader for my churchs youth group which is called Revolution Youth Ministries. (see the link on the side)
Tonight we had are first meeting of our new small groups for the year.

I think I have the most awesome group of all the leaders but I am a little bias and well you know ... it is true!
The only guy I have from last year's small group is Brady Funkhouser, which is cool because we click pretty good, and brady is a pretty solid kid! He's my leader!
...the rest of my group is all new to me ... of course I have known all of them for some time now, but just new to my sg.
I get the privilage of having my cousin, Eric Nilius in my sg this year .... I am really excited about this! we'll have a blast!
I also have Josh Jackson .... soccer player extraordinar and a pretty good drum smacker as well!
Next we have Ethan Subra, a freshman that I am excited to get to build into his life! I also have plenty of stories about living across the street from his Grandma and Grandpa when I was growing up.
I also have Richie Semple, I actually dont know much about this guy so I am looking forward to creating a bonding relationship with him!
next is Thomas Heidersheidt, I got to hang with Thomas a couple of times this summer eat'n some chow after church ... we usually had a good time .... and of course I try and use him as my checker when I am at Hy-Vee .... Your the best man ... and he never gives me a hard time about all the junk food I buy! :)
I also have the infamous Nathan Boersma! enough said ehh ... well actually I really appreciate Nate and I am really looking forward to working with him this year in sg.

Well that pretty much rounds out the group at this point! I am totally excited to see how this group gells and comes together throughout the year! I think God has some pretty awesome things in store for all of us in this small group! Me included! I definatly learn from these guys! and I hope they can learn as much from me! What a joy and privilege to serve in this capacity! Thank You Lord!

Monday Night Sand Volleyball

Well every Monday night 3 of my really good guy friends and I come together to form BHSW group.
No we are not a rock band and no we are not a corporation ... allthough maybe someday?! :)

we do however come together to play 4 person sand volleyball at the Sands Volleyball club in West Des Moines, IA.
This is I think our 5th year doing this, and we usually have a blast being competitive and just hanging out together! I believe this year our current record is 9-4.

However on this past monday night I suffered a minor injury at the hands or I should say feet of one of my fellow teammates. I will live through it, but it is the worst injury I have ever suffered playing volleyball.

Isaac Miller's Birthday Party

Tonight August 27th 2005 I went to Isaac Miller's 3rd birthday party! he had a whole crew of his friends from Church over and of course their parents which of course we are all friends so I guess that works out pretty well! The theme was dinosaur's ... so he got tons of dino's to play with ... I actually got him this pretty sweet motorcycle ... which seemed to be a hit!

He also got a pretty cool toy sword set which set off a couple of duels to the death ... well not really ... but they had fun with them just the same! :)

And of course no birthday party would complete with out the cake! So here it is complete with squigly candles and a dinosaur!
